Home » Forest house
In 2007 a space was created with the purpose of housing two points of educational interest about the ecosystem of the Sierra del Urbión. By means of the Laguna Negra Park House and Glacier Circus, one can get to know the peculiarities of the natural environment that surrounds them, as well as promote the main activity of the region: woodworking.
The Casa del Parque is divided into nine thematic areas, in each of which it gives the opportunity to continue learning about Vinuesa and the region.
After the reception, there is a sensory forest composed of about twenty 5-meter logs of wild pine extracted from the Vinuesa mountain. This forest has been set by means of noises typical of the forest, of forest works of yesterday and today and the smell of coniferous forest. This sensorial space becomes a unique corner to connect with nature.
The visit continues to pay homage to the authentic origins of Vinuesa. It is the corner of the memory. In this area the following resources are dealt with, as the main concepts that help us to know the yesterday and thus to understand the today of Vinuesa and the region in general. The resources are the following: the traditional pinariega cuisine, the exciting pingada del Mayo, the big day of the Pinochada and the old customs of the transhumance and the cartwright. All these elements are developed in the description of various points of interest, in the Historical Downtown section.
The tour of the Casa del Parque continues with a detailed explanation of how wood is worked. The first element is the carriage saw, which accompanied by a carriage and a wooden log, its use and function is explained. It is followed by a panel that tries to teach how the forestry and the ”luck of the pines” work.
The premises have an exhibition of old tools, already in disuse that are difficult to recognize for new generations. Finally, on a large screen, visitors can watch a video on the use and management of forests in the region.
The next area that is developed in La Casa del Parque, deals with the oral tradition. An audio-book allows the visitor to get to know and be enthused by the best legends of oral transmission. The thread of these stories are always elements of heritage or landscape of the region of Pinares.
Continuing the order of the visit the tourist will be able to enjoy a video projected on a big screen. Besides being a great source of information it offers the opportunity to visualize the beautiful landscapes of the region of Pinares.
The Casa del Parque is not a usual interpretation center. Its visitors are fascinated by the reactions they find there, and the sensation through its elements, of being in full contact with nature. To conclude this sensory experience, the tourist can study a model of the natural space, a panel installed on a 42” screen and a 360º panoramic photograph. This bird’s eye view image creates a unique opportunity to enjoy the beauty of the landscape.
Continuing with the visit, you will arrive at the widest and most developed corner of the entire tour. This space tries to make an interpreted tour of three important natural areas of the Urbión Mountain Range: the Valley, surrounded by meadows and groves, the Mountain, forming a sea of pines, and the summit, the majestic and admirable Urbión.
To end the stay in the Casa del Parque and complete the visit, there is a space dedicated to knowing some other important natural area of Castilla y León.
Casa del Parque, is a space for all generations, reconnect with nature and understand the evolution that society has lived in the region. A society and a people marked since time immemorial by its link with these ancient pine forests.
